Update May 2009

After the guideway was laid work moved on to other areas. However construction has now restarted on the Histon bus stop/platforms.

There was some testing of the new buses over the Easter period bewtween the CRC Jt and Gatehouse Road Jt. But I didn't manage to get any photo's.

INTRODUCTION

The old railway line between St Ives and Cambridge is converted by the County Council to the ill-conceived Guided Busway.

Even though the passenger service was withdrawn in 1970 Histon Station has remained very intact.

Despite widespread spread opposition locally to the Guided busway the County Council are pushing on regardless.

The Station Buildings date from the opening of the line in 1847 and although there are other surviving buildings at the other stations such as Oakington and Longstanton, Histon is by far the best preserved.

If you have any photo's of Histon I would like to see them
